2017 was a record broken year for the Dancehall Artiste. With Ebony Reigns almost having three of her videos on YouTube almost hitting 1 million views each. With Dancehall genre gradually becoming of the most listened genre in Ghana.

1. Shatta Wale

Chaaampion as his fans normally calls him. Shatta Wale dominated this year radio waves both with music and controversies. He has released over 80 songs and still counting just this year breaking his own record of last year. The self acclaimed Dancehall King release 4-5 songs or even more every month.

According to Spotify, Shatta Wale has over 115,059 monthly listeners; becoming one of the few Ghanaians to get verified on Spotify.

1. Baby (Chop Kiss) – 1 Million listeners

2. Taking Over ft Captan, Addi Self) – 405,747 Listeners

3. Kpuu Kpa – 615,265 Listeners 

These are the number of  listeners who played Shatta Wale’s music. He has also become the highest paid Ghanaian musician on YouTube surpassing Sarkodie.

2. Stonebwoy Burniton

Stonebwoy has had an amazing year with the release of his album, Epistle of Mama. The album features some great musician such as Octane, Sean Paul, Sarkodie, Yaa Pono, Joey B and many more.

He also got a feature on the Morgan Heritage’s album, which got a Grammy nomination. So that means if Morgan Heritage album wins the Grammy award, Stonebwoy also gets credit and an accolade for his contribution to the album.

Stonebwoy was also on the list of highest earning Ghanaian musician on the YouTube list for 2017.

3. Ebony

Real name Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng who was born on the 16 February 1997 has proved her existence in the music industry with hits upon hits. Ebony held “Ebonyfied” concert recently, the event saw some other artiste who showed supports for her.

Most of her videos uploaded on YouTube has seen some growth. Her recent video which was uploaded just this week has clocked 360,878 views which is very encouraging.

Jupiter General creates good music but unfortunately Ghanaian media does not favor him. But even with the hindrance from the media, Jupiter was able to hold the fifth position. He won the African Artist Of The Year at the Urban Music Awards 2017 in London.
